When it came to building the Primrose School of O’Fallon, the project was moving along just as planned. With the results of four soil boring tests coming back in our favor, we were eager to get to work on the building’s foundation. It wasn’t until we started digging that things got rocky—literally. The site’s ground was mostly composed of shale—a rock too unstable to build on. In order for us to begin working, 2/3’s of the site would have to excavated.
To get back on track, we knew we had to act with urgency. We rented excavators, increased the size of our crew and held weekly meetings with our sub-contractors to keep track of milestones. We were back on pace within a few weeks, ultimately finishing a week ahead of schedule.
The school was immaculate—a spectacular building with a playground and splash park. Most importantly, the client couldn’t have been happier with the final result. Their construction manager even stated that we were the best first-time contractor that they’d ever worked with, paving the way for new projects in the future.
